Maurice E. Buckley

1929 - 1998

 

Mr. Maurice E. Buckley, 69, of Ventura, Iowa, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City, Iowa, with the Rev. Carl A. Ries officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. Military honors were performed by the Clear Lake VFW.

Maurice was born June 2, 1929 in Britt, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Meta (Klinge) Buckley. After graduating from Klemme High School in 1947 he farmed on the family farm until entering the Army during the Korean Conflict. Maurice married Donna Dempsey Boller on April 26, 1952 in Belmond, Iowa.

He farmed in the Belmond and Klemme, Iowa, area until 1966. He then started working for Iowa Mold and Tool in Garner, Iowa until 1968. From 1968-80 he was employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. In 1979 they moved into their present home in Ventura. He started working for the Ventura School system in 1980 as a bus driver and mechanic. He continued driving bus up to the time of his death. He enjoyed driving for all activities and especially liked being around the kids. He loved his family and friends very much. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City, Clear Lake VFW, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Buckley, Ventura; six children, Gary Boller and his wife, Loretta, Blanchard Okla., Mary Meier and her friend, Jay Michael, Littleton, Colo., Mark E. Buckley and his wife, Connie, Berthoud, Colo., Jane Reysack, Clear Lake, William R. Buckley and his wife, Charlie, Loveland, Colo., and Nancy Stadler and her husband, Leo, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Troy Gray, Joanna Southard, Tracy Gray, Joshua Boller, Tony Reysack, Jamie Boller, Kelli Buckley, Derick Stadler, Gabriel Buckley, Peyton Stadler and Josephine Buckley; one brother, Elmer Buckley and his wife, Marion, Garner, Iowa; and two sisters, Ella Marie Ridder and her husband, Jim, Garner, and Margaret McLaughlin and her husband, Tony, Kensett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson, Tanner Southard; and one brother, Leonard Buckley.

Organist Nancy Mennen accompanied soloist Tracy Gray. Honorary pallbearers were William Chizek, Patrick Stork, Gary Schichtl, Henry Bokelman, Jerry Dempsey, Delwyn Stromer, Chuck Bredlow, Merle Janssen, and Paul Hartwell. Pallbearers were Troy Gray, Joanna Southard, Tracy Gray, Joshua Boller, Tony Reysack, Jamie Boller, Kelli Buckley, Derick Stadler, Gabriel Buckley, Peyton Stadler, and Josephine Buckley.
