Peggy L. Clark

1929 - 2009

 

Peggy L. Clark, 79, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 19, at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Des Moines. Burial was in the Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church in memory of Peggy.

Peggy Clark, was born on November 23, 1929 in Flint, Michigan. She grew up in Klemme and graduated from the 4C's Business College in Des Moines in May of 1948. She met Walter Clark at college and they married on November 28, 1948. They resided in Des Moines for most of their lives. They lived briefly in Guymon, Oklahoma and spent most of their retirement years at Sun Valley, Ellston, Iowa.

In college Peggy joined a sorority that continues to get together monthly for lunch. She worked at the Air National Guard for several years and was a homemaker after that. Peggy enjoyed playing golf and playing cards. Her other hobbies included cross-stitch, knitting and ceramics. She took great pleasure in making and sharing her creations with family and friends.

During their 60 years of marriage, Peggy and Walt traveled to many different places and made many friends. Peggy loved entertaining her many friends and family members at her home, which she would decorate for all occasions.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Walter; her son, Charles (Janie); her daughter, Kimberlee (Kevin) Eidson; three grandchildren, Cami Clark, Kelsey (Chris) Davis and Derek Eidson; one great-grandchild, Taylor Eidson; and a sister, Pat Simonsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Leafy Coobs, and her brother, Melvin Coobs.

When Eunice died the 5 Mar 1931 at Flint Michigan, Peggy, age 16 months, and her sister Patricia, age 4 years, came to Klemme in April 1931 to live with their Aunt Leafy Coobs and Aunt Lurley Buss. Peggy adopted the Coobs name.]
