Services for Kenneth Gast, 76, of Garner, who died Thursday, April 14, 1987
at his home in Garner, were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 17 at Faith
Lutheran Church in Miller with Rev. Emil C. Martinson as officiant.
Mrs. Ronald Anderson, organist, accompanied, soloist, Warren Torkelson.
Ushers were Wilbur Peterson and Merle Hall.
Casket bearers were Ambrose Kern, Arno Olson, Merle Deibler, Milton Hansen,
Lloyd Loux and Orville Hall.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation was held at
the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.
Kenneth William Gast, the son of Herman and Meta (Bredlow) Gast was born
December 22, 1910 on a farm in Liberty Township northwest of Klemme. He was
baptized and confirmed at Liberty Methodist Church near Klemme.
He attended school at Liberty #8 and graduated from Klemme High School in
1929. He farmed with his father and his uncle Albert Borchers for several
years.
September 20, 1936, he married Helen Johnson at her parents home north of
Garner. They farmed on the home farm for 5 years and then moved to the
Miller area where they farmed until 1968 when they retired from farming.
They moved into Garner where Kenny worked as a police dispatcher.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he had served as a Sunday
School teacher and treasurer of the congregation. He was a former board
member of the Farmer's Cooperative Creamery, had served as
secretary-treasurer of the Miller Telephone Company for 35 years, was a 4-H
leader and had served as Ellington Township clerk for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Roger and his wife, Judy
Ann, of Bemidji, MN., Mrs. Judy Ambroson and her husband Vance, of Leland
and Mrs. Pamela Erdmann and her husband, William of Bemidji, MN.; 11
grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his brother, Loren and his wife Ruth,
of Garner and 2 sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Lois) Gibbs of Garner and Mrs. James
(Lola) Fredin of Swaledale.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Connie
Gast and sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Zwald.

Garner - Kenneth Gast, 76, of Garner, died Tuesday (April 14, 1987) at his
home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Miller,
with the Rev. Emil Martinson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park
Cemetery, Mason City.
Visitation is after 1 p.m. Thursday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner.
He was born Dec. 22, 1910, on a farm northwest of Klemme to Herman and Meta
(Bredlow) Gast.
He attended Liberty Mo. 8 rural school and he graduated from Klemme High
School in 1929.
On Sept. 20, 1936, he married Helen Johnson at her parents' home north of
Garner.
They farmed on the family farm for five years. They then moved to Milled
where they farmed until 1968.
They retired and moved into Garner where Mr. Gast worked as a police
dispatcher.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Miller, where he served as Sunday
school teacher and church treasurer. He was secretary/treasurer of the
Miller Telephone Company for 35 years and served as Ellington Township clerk
for many years. Mr. Gast was also a 4-H leader and former member of the
Farmers Cooperative Creamery in Garner.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Garner; two daughter, Mrs. Vance (Judy)
Ambroson, Leland, and Mrs. William (Pamela) Erdmann, Bemidji, Minn.; one
son, Roger of Bemidji, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Lois) Gibbs, Garner, and Mrs. James (Lola) Fredin,
Swaledale; and one brother, Loren of Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
