Sandra "Sandy" Kay Iehl

Sandra K. Iehl, 69, of Mason City, died Tuesday (March 6, 2018) at Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa, in Mason City.

A funeral service for Sandy will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday (March 10, 2018) at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City with Reverend Steve Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Belmond.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday (March 9, 2018) at the funeral chapel and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Sandy Kay Iehl was born on October 15, 1948 to Robert and Dorothy (Sturgeon) Gretillat in Mason City. She lived in the Ventura area before moving with her family to the Klemme area. Sandy graduated from Klemme High School in 1967. She attended Mankato Business College, graduating in 1968.

Sandy married Rick Sexton in 1969, and together they had a daughter, Sarah. Sandy later married Robert Iehl on her birthday, October 15, 1988.

Sandy worked for Iowa Kemper Insurance, Economy Fire and Casualty Insurance, Fashion Bug and First Citizen’s National Bank, from where she retired in 2010. In her free time, Sandy enjoyed cross stitching, coloring, gardening, baking, and shopping, but most important was her family and friends. She never missed a grandchild’s birthday or event. Sandy loved to host Christmas for her family and a small get-together for her coworkers.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and was the president the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for two years.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Joel) Zeigler, Kanawha; grandchildren, Joshua (girlfriend, Katilin) Zeigler, Ventura, and Shelby Zeigler, Ankeny; siblings, Bob (Terri) Gretillat, Mason City, Carol (Mike) Snider, Klemme, Diane (Mark) Cooley, Lake Mills, and Tom Gretillat, Kanawha; her step-daughter, Deb (Matt) Studer, Goodell; step-granddaughters, Katie Magnuson and Cheyanne Studer; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Iehl, her parents, Robert and Dorothy (Sturgeon) Gretillat, her sister, Donna (JR) Kaduce, and her grandmother, Alta “Granny” Sturgeon.
