1925 - 2012

Calvin William Grosshuesch

Grosshuesch, Calvin William 86, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Circle of Life Legacy in Bentonville, Arkansas after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 30, 1925 in Stratford, Wisconsin to Rev. Calvin Grosshuesch and Alice (Kuhlman) Grosshuesch.

Cal married the love of his life on May 30th, 1947. He served during World War II in the United States Field Artillery as a Sergeant Major. He spent most of his career at Naperville Central High School, in Naperville, Illinois teaching math and coaching. In 1975 Cal was named Illinois State Golf Coach of the Year and later was inducted in the Illinois Coaches Association Golf Hall of Fame in 1993. He spent 6 years teaching for the DODS system in Hanau, Germany, where he started the high school golf program.

He retired and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1985 where he was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Chummy (Vivian Jubert) Grosshuesch; five sons, Kent, Calvin, Clayt, Kit, Craig; two daughters, Kathy, Kendra; two brothers, Ruben and Ed Grosshuesch; one sister, Gertrude and thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased in death by his brother, Ewald (Ozzie) Grosshuesch. Cal was a great father, hero, role model, mentor, teacher, and rock for the whole family and he will be truly missed by all. He and his heavenly Father are probably talking about the great life he had at the 19th Hole.

A Memorial Service was held in Bella Vista and another memorial will take place in Naperville this summer.
