Services for Ruth E. Carson, 88, of Parkersburg, who died Monday, Dec. 25, 1996, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, were held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 10:30 a.m., at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls with Rev. James R. Beranek officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Sharon Britzman, and vocalist, Shelly Bottorff.

Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Ruth E. Carson, the daughter of John A. and Hilma (Arvidson) Johnson, was born October 18, 1907, in Klemme. She was a 1926 graduate of Klemme High School, and a 1930 graduate of Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Mason City. Ruth soon became supervisor of obstetrics at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, which she did for several years.

March 8, 1944, she married Donald E. Carson at the Methodist Church in Des Moines. In 1945, the couple moved to New Hartford. In 1965, she went to work at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, which she did until 1969, when poor health forced her to retire.

Ruth served as school treasurer for the New Hartford Schools for 10 years. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in New Hartford, and a 50 year member. In retirement, she enjoyed travel, especially to Sweden, where she and Don visited her close relatives on more than one occasion.

She is survived by her husband, Don; three sisters, Doris Back of Klemme, Ethel Steffen of Waterloo, and Bertha Johnson of Garner; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harold Johnson; and one brother in infancy.

Parkersburg - Ruth E. Carson, 88, of Parkersburg, died Monday Dec. 25 at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Carson of Parkersburg; three sisters, Doris Back of Klemme, Ethel Steffen of Waterloo and Bertha Johnson of Garner.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Johnson and one in infancy.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial at Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund will be established.

She was supervisor of obstetrics at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, until 1945; nursed at Sartori from 1965 until her retirement in 1969. She was School Treasurer in the New Hartford Schools for 10 years and past matron of the order of Eastern Star.

Ruth E. Carson, 88, of 602 Conn St., Parkersburg, Iowa, died of natural causes Monday (Dec. 25, 1995) at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with the Rev. James R. Beranek officiating. Burial will follow at Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Visitation was held from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and will be held an hour before services today at the funeral home.

A memorial fund is being established.

Ruth E. Carson was born Oct. 18, 1907, in Klemme.

Survivors include her husband, Don Carson of Parkersburg; three sisters, Doris Back of Klemme, Ethel Steffen of Waterloo, and Bertha Johnson of Garner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one brother in infancy.
