Marcille Berhow

1929 - 1975

 

Services Held at Klemme Nov. 14 Marcille Berhow

Funeral services were held for Marcille Berhow, 46, of Klemme at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Klemme Friday, November 14, Rev. Donald L. Campbell officiated.

The organist was Mrs. Noel Katter and a song "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Rev. Dora Campbell and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung by the congregation.

Marcille Charlotte Amelia Josten the daughter of Edwin and Ellen (Schlei) Josten was born July 2, 1929 at Klemme.  She attended elementary school in Klemme and graduated from the Klemme High School.  She received her bachelor's degree from University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls.  She taught elementary education prior to her marriage on June 25, 1961 to Donald Berhow.  After their marriage they lived in Webster City, Titonka and Lakota where she did substitute teaching while Don was in school and teaching.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Norman.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; two children, Carl Lee and Sonja Ellen.

While the Berhows lived here in Lakota they attended the St. Paul Lutheran Church and Mrs. Berhow led the Cherub Choir in many beautiful songs.  She was also interested in flowers and birds and points of interest in their vacation travels.  She shared many of these with the Acorn Study Club and with friends.

Marcille Berhow's services, Nov. 14

Funeral services for Mrs. Donald (Marcille) Berhow, 46, of Klemme, were held Friday Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist Church of Klemme, with the Rev. Donald L. Campbell officiating.

Comfort in music was supplied by the Rev. Dora Campbell as soloist, and the organist was Mrs. Noel Katter, with the song used of, "How Great Thou Art." The congregational hymn was, "What a Friend".

The pallbearers were: Alfred Josten, August Josten, Ewald Josten, Lynn Katter, Murray Katter, and Noel Katter. She was laid to rest in the Klemme cemetery. The Andrews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She reached the attained age of 46 years, four months, and ten days at the time of her death.

Mrs. Berhow died on Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, 1975, at the Belmond Nursing Home following a lingering illness.

The past 2 years Mrs. Berhow has been a patient at Concord Manor Nursing Home at Garner and the Belmond Nursing Home.

Mrs. Berhow was a member of the United Methodist Church of Klemme.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; two children, Carl Lee and Sonja Ellen, both at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Norman.
