Royce, the son of Leonard "Lindy" and Arlene (Wille) Kaduce was born on June 23, 1952. He grew up in the Klemme area and attended Klemme Community Schools graduating in the Class of 1970. Royce had a lifelong love of sports and participated in Football, Basketball, and was a catcher on the high school baseball team. Following high school, he attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. His passion for athletics carried forward for much of his life as he played in the old duffers Basketball League over the years and truly enjoyed the time spent playing with friends at the Manly gymnasium. Royce loved to support his kids and grandkids in all that they were involved with over the years. He loved young people in general and being involved in their lives, whether it was being behind the home plate as an umpire for hundreds of Little League Softball games or playing an integral role in programs such as Belmond-Klemme High School Rodeo or area 4-H Clubs.

Royce was united in marriage to Beverly Faber, and their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters: Jennifer, Sara, and Ann. Royce and Bev spent many years together nurturing and raising their three daughters and instilling the values of faith, family and hard work into each of them. Although Royce and Bev’s union wasn't permanent, the two remained friends and continued to support their children and grandchildren in all their endeavors.

In earlier years Royce had been employed for the Rock Island Railroad, then spent some time working as a welder in Garner, IA, before
commencing his chosen vocation initially near Rockwell, IA. Soon after he moved to Hanlontown, IA where he spent nearly 15 years farming with his father-in-law the late Fred Faber, late brother-in-law Tom Faber and nephew Justin Faber. He eventually settled onto the original family farm outside of Klemme IA. He raised crops and beef cattle working alongside friend and neighbor Robert Lau. In later years his brother Terry and wife Sue moved back to the area where Terry also helped to farm during busy seasons. Royce relished every moment and season of life on the farm, working the soils, planting and harvesting the crops and tending the cattle. He was a hardworking man who valued an honest day's work and shared this philosophy with many young people who worked alongside him. Over the years youth, many who are now adults, fondly remember working on Royce’s baling crews, walking beans, and other countless farm related tasks.

A favorite Royce quote was " I don't need a gym membership if I have cattle to care for!" One could tell how Royce was doing health-wise by the number of cattle he was raising. Another Royce trademark was his famous “garage talks.” Those who knew Royce soon realized that he was a great confidant and frank in his dialogue.

His analytical and open thought process allowed Royce to be able to accomplish nearly anything he set forth on, be it designing his homes and buildings, or welding and fixing nearly anything. Royce was in the purest form of the word a farmer, and friend, son, and father.

Royce’s life was not all work and no play, as he shared his love for athletics with his daughters and their friends. Before cancer took over his body Royce looked forward to spending time at as many of his daughters’ and grandkids’ events and activities that he could make. He also had a love for music and entertaining, as well as his unique, friendly and innate sense of humor. This love and these characteristics shown through brightly when Royce used to sing and participate in a quartet the Old Ridged Boys.

For many years after moving to Klemme, Royce also enjoyed the companionship and adventures with Jane Follet. Royce moved from the farm south of Klemme into town a couple years ago, but he never truly retired from farming. He will be remembered by many for his love of his family, friends and neighbors. Royce loved to talk and could in fact talk for hours on a multitude of topics.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Travis) Malone and their children Amanda, Fred, Jacob and Wade, all of Redding, IA; his daughter Sara’s children Emma and Isaac Miller, Emporia, KS; Ann (Chris) Doane and their children Matthew, and William. Royce's mother Arlene Kaduce, Klemme, IA; brothers and their families including Terry (Sue) Kaduce, Klemme and Lonn (Linda) Lanza-Kaduce, Gainesville, FL; along with many other extended family and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Leonard "Lindy" Kaduce, and his daughter Sara.
