Lyndon "Pete" Kilgore

1919 - 1983

Lyndon "Pete" Kilgore, 64

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Klemme, for Lyndon "Pete" Kilgore, 64, retired publisher of the Klemme Times and a Klemme rural mail carrier. He died Mon., May 2 at home.

Mr. Kilgore was born in 1919 in Shannon City. He moved to Goodell in 1931 and to Klemme in 1934 where he graduated from Klemme High School in 1936.

Mr. Kilgore served with the U.S. Army from 1942-46 and married Ruth McCormick in 1954. He published the Klemme Times for many years and was a rural mail carrier in the Klemme and Corwith areas. After retiring he continued writing articles for the Garner Leader and Ag Reporter.

Mr. Kilgore was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Slippery Elm Golf Course, Klemme, which he helped develop and design.

The Rev. Don Griffin will officiate at the service and burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, where military rites will be conducted. Visitation is until noon Thursday at Tenold Funeral Home, Klemme.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one son, Clay, Klemme; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Aline) Burgess, Goodell, and Mrs. John (Ellen) Withers, Paisley, Ore., and one brother, C. A. Kilgore, Northbrook, Ill.
