Thelma Edna May Kluckhohn (Larson) Haagenson

1914 - 2000

 

Thelma Edna May Kluckhohn (Larson) Haagenson, 86, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Concord Care Center in Garner. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme, with Pastor Curtis DeVance officiating. Music was provided by Madelyn Priebe, organist. Ushers were Everett Guth and Robert Scott. Honorary bearers were Danielle Hanson, Megan Hanson, Mathew Hanson, Morgan Larson, Holden Larson, Danielle Fiest, Brittany Fiest, and Kaitlin Fiest. Casket bearers were Daryl Brager, Joel Back, Jeff Weber, Ronald Brozik, Ardell Flaten and Rob Lau. Interment was at Ell Township Cemetery near Klemme.

Thelma Edna May Kluckhohn (Larson) Haagenson, the only daughter of Fred and Naomi (Butcher) Kluckhohn was born May 14, 1914, at home in Klemme. She was baptized and confirmed at the Klemme United Methodist Church. She attended Klemme public schools and graduated with the class of 1932. Thelma was an active member of the Camp Fire Girls, Blue Birds, and the Rainbow of the Rebekah Lodge. She worked at the G. W. Kluckhohn & Sons Store in Klemme. On June 20, 1935, Thelma and Carold E. L. Larson of Forest City were married. They lived near Lake Mills for a year and then at Klemme. Carold and Thelma built the Larson Standard Service Station that year and managed the station there. The Larsons had two sons, Robert D. Larson and Craig E. Larson. Carold died in 1968. Thelma continued to live on the Larson farm.

She was an active member of the Klemme United Methodist Church - in the choir and as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. Thelma married Richard D. Haagenson of Leland on February 14, 1976 at the United Methodist Church in Klemme. Richard was employed at Forest City Co-op Oil Company at the Leland station. In 1976, Richard and Thelma moved near Williams to help Thelma's son, Craig, manage the DX Service Station and convenience store on the Boondocks corner. In 1980 they moved into the town of Williams where Thelma was a custodian. For the next 11 years, Thelma's father lived with them and they resided at the farm west of Klemme in their mobile home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carold; her second husband, Richard on June 8, 2000; great grandson, David.

Survivors are her son Robert Larson and Jean Weber of Klemme; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sharon Larson of Klemme; grandchildren, Kay (Larson) and Roger Hanson, Scott and Jill Larson of Garner, Michael Larson of Dickinson, ND, Michele and David Fiest of Velva, ND; and eight great-grandchildren.
