Emilie Arnold

Klemme - Funeral services for Emilie Marie Arnold, 85, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the United Methodist Church of Klemme. She died Friday at a Clear Lake nursing home.

The Rev. George Brighton will officiate. Burial will be in the Klemme Cemetery. The Johnston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Emilie Arnold was born July 19, 1885, the daughter of Ernest and Friederika Lenz, on a farm near Klemme. She attended Charles City College and taught at Fenton and Klemme until her marriage.

She was married to Clarence Arnold on Aug. 28, 1912. They farmed in Liberty Township until his death Oct. 23, 1922. She continued to manage the farm until moving to Prairie View Apartments in Garner.

Mrs. Arnold was active in the United Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S. and served as superintendent of the primary department of the Sunday School. She also was active in Farm Bureau and 4-H work.

She is survived by two sisters, Minnie Lenz, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Harry (Esther) Gibbs, Klemme.

Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Martha Ridder.
