Terry Peck, 58, president of Terry Peck Inc., John Deere dealer in
Waverly, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 30, at St. Mary's Hospital in
Rochester, Minn.
He was born on May 1, 1927, in Hancock County, near Britt, the son of
Bruce and Dora Wagner Peck. He graduated from the Klemme High School in
1945, and then worked for the John Deere Implement Co. in Garner. He
entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict on Oct. 10, 1950. On July
7, 1952 he was united in marriage to Pearl Milligan in San Francisco,
Calif.
Following his discharge from the Army on Oct. 20, 1952, the couple moved
back to Garner where he started working for Jim Howie John Deere Implement
Co. In 1959, they moved to Waverly where Mr. Peck worked for the John
Deere Implement Co. until he bought it in 1966.
Cancer was discovered on Dec. 2. 1983, and Mr. Peck had been hospitalized
several times since then in both Waverly and Rochester.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, was first
Vice President of the Iowa-Nebraska Farm Equipment Assn., was a member of
the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Waverly, and was a
member of the Waverly Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl; nine children, Kathy, Mrs. Jud Smith of
Bartlett, Tenn., Ron of Whitehouse, Tex., Joe of Greene, Karen, Mrs. Jon
Woltz of Iowa City, Doreen, Mrs. Frank Sweeney of Frankston, Tex., Bill of
Waverly, Mary, Mrs. Larry Smith of Windom, Tex., Carol Peck of Ft. Dodge,
Jennifer Peck at home, one step-son, Larry Kemp of Sherman, Tex., one
step-daughter, Paula, Mrs. Kyle Wolfe of Sherman, Tex., 10 grandchildren,
three step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, and seven brothers and
sisters, Irene, Mrs. Paul Wordehoff of Jesup, Beryl Peck of Waverly, Merle
Peck of Bountiful, Utah, Thelma, Mrs. Arnold Prohaska of Garner, Charlotte
Peck of Norwalk, Calif., Charles Peck of Norwalk, Calif., and Doris, Mrs.
Robert Prohaska of Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Waverly with Rev Richard Gaul officiating. Burial will
be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Waverly. A Parish Rosary will be 7:30
p.m. Tuesday at the Kaiser-Corson Chapel in Waverly, where friends may
call after 5:00 p.m. Monday.
