Services for Bernard Pringnitz, 75, of Klemme, who died Sunday, December 20, 1987 at his home in Klemme, were held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23 at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with Rev. Herb Shafer as officiant. Mrs. Robert Schulz and Mrs. Seth Priebe served as organist. Michael Hall was soloist, and Mrs. Danny Mau and Mrs. Dennis Guth, sang as a duet. Ushers were Calvin Bruggeman, Russell Verhelst and Gary Alberts.

Honorary casket bearers were Forrest Langlitz, Everett Guth, Leon Gelner, Robert Schulz, Robert Scott and Merle Brown.

Active casket bearers were Harry Pringnitz, Jr., Steve Jass, Mark Jass, Gene Lackore, John Abele and Stan Greiman.

Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Bernard Francis Pringnitz, the son of Otto and Ida (Olson) Pringnitz, was born March 21, 1912 on a farm in Twin Lake Township. He attended school at Liberty Township #8 and graduated from Klemme High School in 1931.

December 29, 1937, he married Ruth Abele at the home of her parents, the Lewis Abele's, in Liberty Township. They started farming March 1, 1938 in Liberty township where they farmed for 43 years. In October of 1980, they retired and moved into Klemme. Bernard enjoyed farming, square dancing, fishing, gardening (especially raising of roses), helping at church and his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Klemme, belonging to the Methodist Men's Group, had been chairman of the church Board of Trustees and had served as Sunday school Superintendent at the Liberty Methodist Church before its union with the United Methodist Church in Klemme. He had served on the Farmer's Cooperative Society Board and the Hancock County R.E.C. Board, both in Garner. He was a member of the Lion's club in Klemme, the Garner Rainbow Swingers Square Dance Club and the 055 Campers Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his children, Mrs. Ruth Gilpin and her husband, Dick, of Klemme, Mrs. Margaret Jass and her husband, Alan, of Garner, Duane Pringnitz and his wife, Jeanne, of Klemme, Mrs. Madelyn Priebe and her husband, Seth, of Klemme and Mrs. Marian Tlach and her husband, Ed, of Lancaster, MO; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Pringnitz and his wife, Hazel, of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Carrie Pringnitz of Klemme and Mrs. Dorothy Pringnitz of Garner and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Fred Pringnitz and Ernest Pringnitz and his sister, Mrs. Ethel Krietlow.
