Waterloo - Edna M. Etzen, 84, of Waterloo, formerly of Forest City, died Friday,
May 16, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City of natural causes.
She was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Klemme, daughter of Howard and Alta Howard
Spitler. She married Edward Coyle, and they later divorced. She then married
Pete Etzen on Aug. 8, 1969. He died Feb. 24, 1979.
She graduated from Klemme High School, Klemme, in 1941. She worked for Winnebago
Ind., Forest City, for several years and then later was employed at the Lutheran
Good Samaritan Society Care Center, Forest City, until 1985.
Survived by: two daughters, Judy Millett and Donna Todd, both of Waterloo; five
grandchildren, Jolene (Perry) Berger, Jay (Kelly) Millett, Kristine Falk and
Wesley (Kami) Todd, all of Waterloo, and David (Kristen) Coyle of Concord, Calif;
12 great-grandchildren; a son Larry (Kathryn) Coyle of Loomis, Calif; and a
sister, Doris Nicholson of Grinnell.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a sister, Irene Hartwig; a
brother, Art Swomley; and a son-in-law, Jerome Millett.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, with entombment in the Garden of
Memories Cemetery Mausoleum. Public visitation for an hour before services
Monday at the funeral home.
