Marie Turgasen

Marie M. Turgasen, 81, of Solon, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the Solon Nursing Care Center in Solon after a short illness.

Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. today at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.  Memorials may be made to the Solon Nursing Care Center or Sierra Club.  Lensing Funeral & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Turgasen was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Klemme to John and Otilla (Koerner) Stille.  She married Donald Turgasen on Jan. 3, 1942, in Klemme.  She taught English and American history in the schools of Woden-Crystal Lake, Wapello and Malcom.  She was head of the department of social studies at Independence High School.

Survivors include one son and his wife, John and Mary Beth Turgasen of Iowa City; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Turgasen of Independence, and five grandchildren, Jeremy, Michael, Joshua, Amanda and Sarah.

Her husband and one son, Brian died earlier.

Solon, IA - Marie M. Turgasen, 81, of Solon, formerly of Klemme, died Thursday (March 4, 1999) at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme, with Pastor Curtis DeVance of the Klemme United Methodist Church officiating.

Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
