August 4, 1924 - April 24, 2018

Mason City - Ruth Knudtson, age 93 of Mason City, formerly of Lake Mills, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills with Pastor Bill Peters officiating.

Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme, Iowa.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Ruth Maxine (Stille) (Tue) Knudtson was born August 4, 1924 in Klemme, IA, the daughter of Lester and Helen (Hartzell) Stille. She attended country school, Liberty #7, just west of their farm home, and graduated from Klemme High School in 1941 at the age of 16. She then attended AIB Business School in Des Moines, IA.

In 1942 she started working at the Polk County ASCS Office, then transferred to the Iowa State ASCS Office. She left that office in 1952 when Greg was born.

Ruth was united in marriage to Lavon Tue on April 28, 1952 at the Methodist Church in Klemme, IA. Lavon passed away on May 4, 1954. She then returned to work at the Hancock County ASCS Office in Garner, IA. She remained with the ASCS Office for 28 years and retired in August of 1974 at the age of 50.

On June 29, 1973, Ruth married James H. Knudtson at the Methodist Church in Clear Lake, IA, lived on the farm until 1993, then moved in to Lake Mills, IA.

Ruth had been an active member of the Methodist Church in Klemme and then Winnebago Lutheran church. She had been active in both Klemme and Lake Mills American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruth is survived by her two sons, Greg (Nancy) Tue of Clear Lake, IA and Mark (Margaret) Tue of Garner, IA; three grandchildren Chad (Michelle), Andrew (Meghan), and Morgan; and three great-grandchildren Nathan, Sydney, and Levi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Lavon in 1954, her second husband, James in 2008, and a sister Lois Stille.
