Obituary of Orville T. Stokesbary, 42

Orville Thomas Stokesbary was born October 12, 1908 in Corwith, Iowa, the eldest of a family of four children born to his parents, George R. and Ella Hallian Stokesbary.

When Orville was seven years old the Stokesbary family moved to a farm in the Klemme community, where Orville attended a rural school and completed his public school training in the Klemme High School in 1928. His classmates were: Irene Carlson, Ethel Johnson, Golda Moberly, Harvey Nelson, Florence Stokesbary, Alvin Thieman, Donald Turgesen, Gladys Wilson.

In the fall of 1935, at the age of 27, Orville Stokesbary and Nova Koerner were married by Rev. Harvey Nelson at Lakota, Iowa. They commenced housekeeping in Klemme and later built a home of their own at the west edge of town. They are the parents of 3 children; Janice 11, Jerry 7 and Julie 5, and now after 15 years the family circle is broken by the passing of the husband and father.

Orville Stokesbary spent most of his life in this community and was a good citizen. He loved his family and home; his hobby was sports and he was manager of the Klemme Soft Ball Team since its organization a few years ago. He was employed as bookkeeper at the Northern Lumber Co.

About a year ago Orville Stokesbary became ill with a heart ailment, spent some time in a hospital, seemed to improve slowly until other complications brought his life to a close on the morning of December 9, 1950.

He reached the age of 42 years, 1 month and 27 days, and leaves besides his wife and 3 children, his parents Mr. and Mrs. George R. Stokesbary of Garner; one brother Geo. J. of Des Moines; two sisters, Florence, Mrs. Russel Bair, Mason City and Eva, Mrs. Truman Glassell of Garner, and other more distance relatives and friends.
