Marcia Kay Kolbeck

1938 - 2013

 


Marcia Kolbeck, age 74, of Ashton, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her home in Ashton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa. Father John Vakulskas and Father Tim Hogan officiating. Burial in St. Marys Catholic Church Cemetery in Ashton.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4:00 P.M. Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. all at St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton Marcia Kay Kolbeck was born on December 29, 1938 in Clarion, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Evelyn (Case) Watne. She lived her youth and attended school in Klemme, Iowa, where she graduated from high school.

She was united in marriage to Earl Kolbeck of Ashton, Iowa on August 28, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis for a short time and then moved to Ashton, Iowa where they continued to live. Marcia assisted her husband with Kolbeck Electric, which they owned and operated for over 50 years. Earl passed away on September 10, 2010.

Marcia was an active member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa, where she sang in the choir and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America. She was an American Legion Auxiliary member, Cub Scouts Den Mother, and was involved as a First Responder with Ashton Community Emergency Services, for many years. Marcia enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting ceramics, baking cakes and bars, playing Bingo on Wednesdays in Ashton, going downtown for dinner and coffee and visiting with friends and family.

She passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at her home in Ashton.

Those left to cherish her memories are five sons: Mike T. and very special friend Rhonda Fisher of Ashton, IA and his children Travis Kolbeck of Sheldon, IA and Amy Kolbeck and her son Andreu of Sheldon, IA; Ron E. and wife Judy Kolbeck of Jefferson, IA and their children Kyla Kolbeck of Denver, CO and Holly Kolbeck and her son Ethan of Fort Dodge, IA; James S. and wife Evie Kolbeck and their children Kathy Kolbeck and her son Rylan, and Clinton Kolbeck all of Ashton, IA; Doug P. Kolbeck and his daughter Brittany Kolbeck of Fostoria, IA; Daniel J. and wife Bonnie Kolbeck and their son Alex Kolbeck of Greeley, CO; three brothers: Jon Watne of Clarian, IA, Ted Watne of Belmond, IA, Craig Watne of Belmond, IA; two sisters: Phebe and Charles Soma of Belmond, IA, Norma and Jerry McNertney of Nevada, IA; bother-in-law: Leland Halfpop of Goodell, IA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: Earl Kolbeck; her parents; sister: Susan Halfpop; sisters-in-law: Betty Watne, Barb Watne and Connie Watne.
