Ormand "Ross" West

1915 - 1992

 
Ormand "Ross" West of Dayton died on November 2 at St Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno. He was 77 years old.

Born on May 26, 1915, in Webster City, IA, West had resided in Dayton for the past year-and-a-half, coming from Yorba Linda, CA. He was a masonry contractor by trade, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Dayton and Masonic Lodge/the Boston Lodge and enjoyed tennis, flying, water sports, golf, travel, bowling, and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred Wilson West, and his wife, Mary, and is survived by brother Claire of Humboldt, IA; sons Steven of Carmichael, CA, and Christopher of Aurora, CO; daughters Patricia Miller of Pittsburgh, CA, Sandra Muchow of Paradise, CA, and Sherry Blakley of Mutsabu (Kutsabu), Alaska; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was held on Wednesday (Nov. 4) at FitzHenry's Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, and funeral services were held Thursday (Nov. 5) at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton, with Pastor Jerry Peterson presiding.

Burial in the Dayton Cemetery was to follow the funeral services, with FitzHenry's Funeral Home & Crematory of Carson City in charge of arrangements.

The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Nevada Affiliate of the American Heart Association, 1135 Terminal Way, Suite #105, Reno, NV 89502.
