John W. Wilson

John W. Wilson, 58, of Britt, died Saturday (May 28) at Westview Manor, Britt of natural causes.

Funeral services were Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Britt. The Rev. James A Mattson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, with a flag folding ceremony by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Britt American Legion Post #315. Services were under the direction of the Ewing Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Wilson was born June 4, 1929, near Kanawha to William and Ella (Olsen) Wilson.

He received his education in the country schools near Kanawha and worked in the lumber yard at Kanawha.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Upon discharge in 1953, he returned to the Kanawha area.

On April 8, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marie Ann Mayland at First Lutheran Church, Britt. They made their home in Kanawha until moving to Britt where they had a restaurant business until 1979. He retired in 1980 due to poor health.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Ann of Britt; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Bonny) Fox of Britt and Deborah Wilson at home; two sons, Larry of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Michael at home; two sisters, DeVera Wilson and Mrs. Kenneth (Patricia) Cook, both of Britt; two brothers, Robert D. of Des Moines and Dennis of Mason City; and one grandchild.

His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
