Shell Rock - Robert Conrad Andreae, 88, of Shell Rock, died Tuesday, Jan 13, at Unity Point Health - Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born May 30, 1926, in Volga, son of Henry and Elma Piehl Andreae. On Aug 3, 1947, he married Kay Dumermuth at United Methodist Church, Fayette; she died May 5, 2003.

Robert graduated from Volga High School, and graduated from Upper Iowa University, Fayette, in 1947, with a bachelor's degree in education. He taught in Klemme and then Shell Rock, continuing his education at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, where he earned his master's degree. He then worked as a school administrator at Waverly-Shell Rock for several years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Shell Rock.

Survived by: two daughters, Cristine (Ron Montgomery) Mary of Ankeny and Connie (Robert) Saunders of Rochester, Minn.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his parents, a brother, John; a sister, Mary Looney; and a son-in-law, Richard Mary.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Shell Rock. Visitation Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Shell Rock, with family present 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Robert Conrad Andreae, age 88, of Shell Rock, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Bob was born on May 30, 1926, in Volga, Iowa, the son of Henry and Selma (Piehl) Andreae.

He was raised in Volga and graduated from the Volga High School. Bob then attended Upper Iowa University graduating in 1947, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

On August 3, 1947, Bob was united in marriage to Kay Dumermuth at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, Iowa. The couple made their home in Klemme, Iowa, where Bob began his teaching career.

In 1956, the couple moved to Shell Rock and Bob continued teaching and also attended University of Northern Iowa where he earned his Master's Degree.

Bob then worked as a school administrator at Waverly-Shell Rock for several years retiring in 1985.

Bob was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, Shell Rock Music Association, and Waverly Community Band. He enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs.

Bob's memory is honored by: his two daughters, Cristine (Ron Montgomery) Mary of Ankeny, Iowa, and Connie (Robert) Saunders of Rochester, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Katie Mary of Ankeny, Iowa, Andrew (Melissa) Saunders of Rochester, Minnesota, and Abbie Kay (Chad) Severson of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; and five great-grandchildren, Kaycee Taylor, Mitchell and Jakob Severson, and Isabel and Isaac Saunders.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Kay on May 5, 2003; a brother, John Andreae; a sister, Mary Looney; and a son-in-law, Richard Mary.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock.

Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock where the family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
