Funeral Services For Ruby Carmichael

Services for Ruby Azeltine Carmichael, 65, of 1515 Elmwood Ave., Bettendorf were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the chapel in Hill and Fredricks Mortuary, Davenport, Rev. Worthie Usher officiated. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Memorials were established at St. John's Methodist church, Davenport and Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital.

Mrs. Carmichael passed away Wednesday at the Ridgecrest Retirement Village Health-Wing, Davenport.

Ruby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Azeltine, was born at Rowan. She graduated from high school and also graduated from Iowa State Teachers College. She had been employed as a teacher for 44 years, retiring in 1975 from McKinley school after 27 years in that school.

Ruby Igo married H. S. "Mike" Carmichael March 10, 1973 in Davenport. Survivors include her husband, three step-daughters and five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Celia Groom of Rowan and Mrs. Louise Greenfield of Harcourt, and two brothers, LeRoy Azeltine of Hampton and Maynard Azeltine of Rowan. Also many nieces and nephews survive.

Services for Ruby M. Carmichael, 64, of 1515 Elmwood Ave., Bettendorf, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hill & Fredericks Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to St. John's Methodist Church, Davenport, or the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital.

Mrs. Carmichael died Wednesday at Ridgecrest Health Wing, Davenport. She had been a teacher for 44 years, retiring in 1975 from McKinley School, where she worked 27 years. Ruby Azeltine was born in Rowan, Iowa. Ruby Igo married H.S. "Mike" Carmichael in 1973 in Davenport. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Suzanne Jennings, Hanlontown, Iowa; Sally Strobbe, Davenport, and Janet Bert, Phoenix, Ariz; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Celia Groom, Rowan, and Louise Greenfield, Harcourt, Iowa, and brothers, LeRoy Azeltine, Hampton, Iowa, and Maynard Azeltine, Rowan.
