1874 - 1925

Leslie Eugene Bowker was born on February 9, 1874, at Crystal Lake, Ia., in a log cabin a few hundred feet from the shore of the lake. He spent most of his childhood days there. The Bowkers were, at the time of his birth, among the early settlers of Hancock County, and the nearest town was Mason City, which distance they drove with oxen.

He was married Sept. 12, 1899, to Millie Gillstrop of Woden, Ia. To this union twelve children were born as follows: Ada May Clark, of Cherokee; Florence Rachael Bowker, of Cherokee; Frank Leslie Bowker, of Chicago; Sadie Ellen Bowker, of Cherokee; John Herbert, (died age 1 year and 12 days); Harry Eugene Bowker, Charles Albert Bowker, Ralph Ellery, (died age 6 days); Helen Amanda Bowker, Lawrence Delbert (died age 11 days); Robert Sidney Bowker, William Herbert Bowker; the youngest being seven years old.

F. Bowker, of Davenport, Ia.; W. H. Bowker, of Minneapolis; D. W. Bowker, of Minot N. D.; Mrs. O. N. Emery, of Zahl, N. D.; Mrs. Chas. Almy of Minot, N. D.
