Paul M. Griesemer

1883 - 1969

Services for Paul Griesemer were held Monday, Nov. 24; died at 86

Funeral services for Paul Griesemer, age 86, were held Monday afternoon, Nov. 24, at 2 o'clock, from the United Methodist church, with the Rev. Wallace A. Stark, officiating.

The text was taken from John 3:16 with the meditation as "For God So Loved . . ." Comfort in music was supplied by B. E. Throndsen, Claire Tompkins, James Gatchel, and G. W. Templeton, who sang, "Only a Touch," and "Beyond the Sunset." The organist was Mrs. G. W. Templeton.

Pallbearers were; H. L. Ollenburg, Ben Riemer, A. E. Rasmussen, Arthur Jass, Chester Stille, and Roy Railback. Mr. Griesemer was laid to rest in the Concord cemetery.

Mr. Griesemer was born on April, 1883, the son of Henry and Jestina (Mayer) Griesemer at Klemme. He died on Thursday, Nov. 20, 1969, after reaching the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 14 days. He died at the Concord Manor Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for some six years; being the first regular resident of the Home.

He was married to Hulda Greutzmacher on September 3, 1918, at Klemme; his wife preceded him in death on November 16, 1962; they had no children. Only several cousins survive Mr. Griesemer.

Mr. Griesesmer operated the Griesemer Leather and Harness Shop from 1933, when his father, Henry died, until the latter part of 1963. He also operated stores at Britt and Mason City. In addition to his store operations, he worked on shoes, canvases, and leather goods. He worked in the accounting and auditing field for some 25 years before going into the leather business with his father.

Paul was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, was very active in community and civic affairs in his younger years. He was past president of the State Leather Association, a member of the Masonic Lodge for years, and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Griesemer will be sorely missed by his relatives and a host of close friends.
