J. Harr Former Druggist Dies

Nora Springs - J. L. Harr, 80, Nora Springs businessman for 35 years, died at his home here at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, following several years illness with heart trouble. He suffered a stroke about a week ago.

Mr. Harr was born in Pennsylvania, September 28, 1863. He has been a registered pharmacist for 53 years, moving to Nora Springs in 1907 and operating a drug store here until illness forced him to close his business 3 years ago.

He married Leila Blanchard in 1892. Two children were born, Wayne Harr, who died in 1927 and Mrs. Harold Hofler of Nora Springs, who survives. Mrs. Harr died October 15, 1905 and was buried in Chariton.

In 1908 he married Mrs. Helen Brown, who died in 1935. His step-children by this marriage were Roy Birran of Augusta, Kansas; Dr. Virgil Brown of Wichita; Mrs. Harvey Robbings of Burlingame, California; Mrs. Melvin Jones of Nora Springs, who survive him; and Mrs. Otto Fischer of Rockford, who died in 1922.

There are also among the survivors 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Maude Bryner of Janesville, who was here at the time of Harr's death, and Mrs. Nevada Brown of Minneapolis; and one brother, Harry Harr, of Lowell, Michigan.

Mr. Harr was a member of the local chapters of both the Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges.

The funeral was to be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Methodist church. Burial was to be at Chariton.

Burial Service Friday For Nora Springs Man

A brief service will be held at the grave in Chariton cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friday for J. L. Harr, 79, who died at his home in Nora Springs Tuesday. His
wife, the former Lelia Blanchard of Chariton, preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Mr. Mildred Hofler, of Nora Springs.
