Gloria Haugen

Services held for Gloria Haugen

Gloria Haugen, 47, of Klemme, died Friday, March 31, 1989, at her home of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Garner. The Rev. James Lamb officiated and burial was at Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Mrs. Haugen was born June 1, 1941, in Woden to Harm and Frances (Schwab) Sonius. After graduating from Woden High School in 1959 she attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City. She worked for the law firm of McMahon and Cassell in Algona for one year. On September 11, 1960, she married John Haugen at Woden. They lived in Britt for one year and in August of 1961 they moved to Klemme.

She was board secretary and the superintendent's secretary for the Klemme Community Schools from 1961 to June 1988.

She served as church organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garner, for over 20 years.

Mrs. Haugen was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's League, Rebekah Circle and Federated Women's Club, Klemme.

Survivors include her husband, John of Klemme; two daughters, Julie Haugen, Iowa City, and Deanna Haugen, Klemme; her mother, Mrs. Frances Sonius, Woden; one sister, Mrs. Heinz (Shirley) Engel, New Hampton; and two brothers, John Sonius, Britt, and Richard Sonius, Osceola.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
