Lois Jessie Hodoway

1911 - 1985

 
Mrs. Lois Hodoway

Services were held Wednesday, August 21 for Mrs. Lois Hodoway, at the United Methodist Church in Rolfe, with burial in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery, Rolfe. Mrs. Hodoway passed away Saturday, August 17, 1985, at Trinity Regional Hospital, in Fort Dodge, reaching the age of 74 years.

Powers Funeral Home, Rolfe, was in charge of arrangements.

Lois Brinkman was born at Rolfe and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1928. In 1932, she graduated from Battle Creek College, Battle Creek, Michigan, a professional physical education college. She was head of the women's physical education department at Morningside College in Sioux City for several years. In 1939, she married Richard Hodoway at Waterloo, and they moved to Rolfe in 1945. In 1958 she taught physical education at Rolfe Elementary and High Schools and also taught science in the Klemme High School. She retired in 1973.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, P.E.O., Eastern Star, United Methodist Church Women, and the Shrine Women's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; sons, Stephen Brinkman Hodoway and Richard Craig Hodoway, both of Rolfe; two grandsons;
sisters, Mrs. Janette Ford, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Mrs. Stella Mae Butterworth, of Oceanside, Calif.; and Mrs. Robert (Mary Beth) Walker, of Anaheim, Calif,; and brother, David Brinkman, of Rolfe.
