Robert L. Juhl, 68

Funeral services for Forest city native, Robert L. Juhl, 68 of Ackley will be held Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley. Father Rick Dagit will officate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ackley. Military rites were conducted by Elliott-Keninger Post 252 of Ackley.

Robert LeRoy Juhl, the son of Melvin S. and Clara (Olson) Juhl, was born March 3, 1927, in Forest City. He graduated from Forest City High School in 1944, entered the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey.

Juhl then enrolled and graduated from Waldorf College and completed his bachelor's degree in teaching at Drake University. He married Marian Lauer Aug 19, 1950, at Clear Lake.

Juhl had a 38-year career in teaching. He retired in 1986, but continued his crop hail adjusting.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his son, John Juhl and his wife, Mary of Burnsville, Minn,; a daughter, Laura Harms and her husband, Dennis of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Mark and Christopher Juhl, Brandon and Shanna Harms; and a brother, Marvin Juhl of Forest City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marian.

Ackley - Robert LeRoy Juhl, 68, of Ackley, died Sunday, Oct. 8, at his daughter's home in Sioux City of natural causes.

Survivors include a son, John of Burnsville, Minn,; a daughter, Laura Harms of Sioux City; four grandchildren; and a brother, Marvin of Forest City; he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ackley, with burial in the church cemetery; military rites will be conducted by Elliott-Keninger Post 252 of Ackley.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home, Ackley; with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.; there will be a 7:30 p.m. parish wake service today at the funeral home.

Mr. Juhl was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the USS New Jersey; he attended Waldorf College and received his bachelor's degree in teaching from Drake University; he taught school for 38 years, retiring in 1986; he also was employed in crop-hail insurance adjusting.
