Frank William Kluckhohn

1882 - 1954

Obituary of Mr. Frank W. Kluckhohn

By Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg

Mr. Frank William Kluckhohn whose passing is deeply regretted and mourned by his family, loved ones, friends and neighbors was born on November 2, 1882, on a farm north of Klemme, Iowa. He was the son of George W. Kluckhohn and Louisa nee Ell Kluckhohn.

As a youth he attended the rural school in the vicinity of the Kluckhohn home and later Frank graduated from the Garner High School. He then attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

On May 14, 1914, Mr. Frank Kluckhohn and Miss Anna Liljenberg were united in the bonds of marriage at the parental home of the bridegroom. God in His providence blessed this home with three children, Kenneth, Franklin, and Carmen.

Mr. Kluckhohn or "Bally" as he was commonly known, entered business with his father in Klemme. For the past thirty two years he has been in business with his brothers, Fred and Clarence, dealing in groceries and general merchandise. Frank was very diligent and faithful in fulfilling his responsibilities in his place of business and always had a friendly word of greeting for all who came in contact with him.

On November 8, 1930, Mrs. Kluckhohn was called to her eternal reward and Frank had the full responsibility of caring for and guiding the lives of his children.

In recent months Mr. Kluckhohn has been in failing health. It was necessary for him to be relieved of his business responsibilities and on January 23 he was taken to the Belmond Hospital. On Sunday, January 31, he departed from this earthly life having attained the age of 71 years, 2 months and 29 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his children, Kenneth and Franklin of Klemme and Carmen (Mrs. Lynford Back) of Klemme. Also surviving are two brothers, Fred, and Clarence E. Kluckhohn both of Klemme and sisters, (Lola) Mrs. W. C. Keraus of Klemme and Sadie (Mrs. L. D. Turgasen) of State Center, Iowa. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Roxanne and Joel Back, and Larry and Carol Kluckhohn, and a host of friends and neighbors.

Mr. Frank Kluckhohn was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, brothers LeRoy and William, and sister, Myrtle, who died in infancy, and brother Charles.
