Services for Myrtle I. Lemke, 89, Klemme, who died Tuesday, July 16, 1996, were held Friday, July 19, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Belmond with Rev. Ken Fineran officiating.

Music was provided by Madelyn Priebe, organist, who accompanied the congregational hymns and a duet of Bev Thorson and Gordon Beier. Ushers were Everett Guth and Bob Scott.

Casket bearers were James Meyer, Robert Meyer, Carroll Albers, Alvin Meyer Jr., David Schmitt and Virgil Pringnitz. Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, with Tenold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Irene Lemke, the daughter of Walter Isaac and Etta Marie (Johnson) Geisler, was born Thursday, Nov. 15, 1906, near Piper City, IL. Myrtle lived on a farm in the community until eight years of age when the family moved to a farm five miles southeast of Hanlontown. The family moved to different farms during her childhood.

October 22, 1936, she married Walter W. H. Lemke at the parsonage of the Klemme Reformed Church by Rev. Grosshsuesch. They lived in Klemme with the exception of two years when the family lived on a farm northeast of Garner.

Myrtle was a long-time Sunday School teacher and school cook for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, UMW, Grandmother's Club, Garden Club and the Klemme Senior Citizens. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Hrubes, and her husband, Clarence of Britt; a son, Earl Lemke, and Kathleen of Des Moines; brothers, Emery Geisler and his wife, Betty of Nora Springs, Lyle Geisler of Rockford, and Warren Geisler and his wife, June of Moline, IL; sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Schmitt of Rockford, and Mrs. Arlis Meyer of Garner; sister-in-law, Mrs. Meta Bohn of Garner; grandchildren, Gaylord Hrubes and his wife, Marie, Renee Devine and her husband, Tom, Patti Hrubes, Michael Hrubes and his wife Charlotte, and Suzette Hrubes; great-grandchildren, Megan, Dana and Caleb Hrubes, Rachel, Christopher and Timothy Devine and Lacey, Joshua and Brandi Hrubes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter W.H.; a brother, Donald; and a grandson, Terry Hrubes.
