Services for Dale Linahon, 61, of Garner, who died Thursday, Sept. 25, at University Hospitals in Iowa City, were held 1:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29 at United Methodist Church in Klemme with Revs. Herb and Barb Shafer officiating assisted by Rev. Julius Rechtermann of Immanuel Reform United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Robert Schulz was organist. Ushers were Everett Guth and Gary Alberts.

Honorary bearers were Leonard Buckley, Robert Schmidt, Merle Gouge, Dale Poncin, Stan Ziesmer, Dr. Jack Baker, Richard Ulrich, Glen Sobek, Ron Groesbeck, Francis Ames and Harvey Ausborn.

Active bearers were Robert Schaefer, Troy Baumgartner, Jim Linahon, Tom Linahon, Dan Linahon, Tim Linahon, Mike Linahon and Gary Linahon. Graveside military rites were conducted by Adam Schaefer Post #625 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Dale Linahon, the son of Fred P. and Dolly "Grace" (Hamstreet) Linahon was born Dec. 14, 1924 at Des Moines. He was a 1943 graduate of Ventura High School. During World War II he served his country in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theater.

November 3, 1946, he married Fern Gifford at Clear Lake. He worked for various farmers in the Hancock County area for a number of years and then drove trucks for several local firms.

April 8, 1971, he married Gail Schaefer at Elk Point, So. Dak.

He was a member of the American Legion Post at Klemme.

He is survived by his wife, Gail, of Garner; his children, Jerry Linahon of Park City, Montana, Mrs. James (Marlene) Smith of Klemme, Mrs. Michael (Sandy Jo) Gouge of Kalispell, Montana, Peggy Linahon of Garner and Mrs. Steven (Mary Jane) Gouge of Klemme; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Robert E. Linahon and his wife, Darlene, of Clear Lake and Patrick N. Linahon and his wife, Joan, of Clear Lake; and his step-mother, Mrs. Harriet Linahon of Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by an infant grand-daughter, Amanda Lynn Linahon and his parents.
