Lorraine Ardis Roselle Seim Spotts, 89, Nora Springs, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral service for Lorraine will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 12,2016, at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 101 North Hawkeye in Nora Springs, with Pastor David Werges and Diaconal Elayne Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery in Nora Springs. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye Street, Nora Springs. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Lorraine Ardis Roselle (Seim) Spotts, was born on August 2, 1926, on the family farm in Winnebago County, Eden Township, the daughter of Elmer and Mable (Olson) Seim. She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bricelyn, MN. She attended country schools in Eden Township before graduating from Keister, MN High School in 1944. She also attended Waldorf College and later, Drake University earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Lorraine taught Kindergarten class for 17 years at Klemme, Belmond, and the Albert Lea, MN school system until her retirement in 1963.

She was united in marriage to Lester Spotts on July 13, 1963, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bricelyn, MN. Lester preceded her in death on September 29, 1991.

The family lived and farmed on the Spotts Century Farm located west of Nora Springs where she and Lester hosted many family gatherings. Lorraine was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She served on the Church Council, Altar guild, prayer chain and funeral committee. She was a participant of the Friendly Circle Group and Women’s Circle Bible study class, a Sunday School Teacher, and Charub Choir Director. She also opened up her home to Riverside Bible camp staff, who came for a week to St. Luke to share and teach God’s love to the community.

Lorraine enjoyed school activities of her children and grandchildren, spending time with family, many church activities, working on the farm, providing meals during planting and harvest seasons, driving farm equipment, keeping up with yard work, mowing, and gardening.

Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lori (Lance) Jost of Rock Falls, her son, Marcus (Cathy) Spotts of Nora Springs; her grandchildren, Brittney Jost and Lincoln Jost of Rock Falls, Blake Spotts, Mac Spotts, and Reggi Spotts of Nora Springs; her niece, Trudy Carter of Sunnyvale, CA; her nephew, Paul Masterson of Sacramento, CA; great-nieces and nephews, Maureen (Clark) Welch, Colleen (Drew) Nichols, Kelly (Keith) Casey, Michael (Dana) Carter, Malinda (Brian) Rose, and Harold Masterson; her great-great nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Mary and Jackson Welch, Carter, Cassidy and Makenna Nichols, Quinn and Padriac Casey, Michael III, Rory and Logan Carter, Gabriel and DiAnna Rose; as well as many cousins, extended family members and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mable Seim; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alma and Paul Spotts; her husband, Lester Spotts; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Alta Masterson; and a nephew-in-law, Michael Carter.
